AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT URBANA-CHAMPAIGN
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
OUR STUDIOS
Each MFA student is equipped with a spacious individual studio (the IRL South Studios), access to state of the art labs and equipment, and access to installation spaces for exhibition, critique, and documentation.
Our access to space and resources is in place to encourage rigorous individual studio research and practice as well as to provide graduate students room to discover new and innovative ways for thinking about and being in the world.
TEACHING
Graduate students in our program gain valuable experience in teaching and crafting university courses, often serving as the instructor of record for undergraduate studio art classes.
THE STUDIO ART MFA PROGRAM AT UIUC
The UIUC MFA Studio program is a fully-funded, three-year degree program that provides its students with abundant time and space to work. Dedicated faculty mentorship and access to the resources of the wider university as a whole(a tier-one research university) foster creative research and the development of a sustainable studio practice.
Our interdisciplinary graduate program offers media specializations and faculty expertise in Painting, Sculpture, New Media, Printmaking, and Photography, emphasizing the development of individual and/or collaborative studio research and practice in preparation for a wide range of career opportunities in both fine arts and client based contexts, including but not limited to museum and gallery exhibitions, art education, public engagement, community based work, curatorial practices, performance and activism.
